"There's a special day, a thank-you day, honoring kids for their service while the folks are away."--Purple Up!: We Salute Our Friends by Sarah Lynn Scheerger
We often recognize the sacrifice made by people serving in our military--both at home and abroad. We thank them for their service. Military children and their sacrifices are sometimes overlooked.
They say goodbye to parents and family members when they deploy. They say goodbye to friends and pets who may not be able to join them at their next home. They are the new kid at school over and over again.
They are also good at making friends. They get to experience different places and different faces. They grow up on base and get to do all kinds of cool things because they are military kids.
The books in this list give voice to what military children experience, what they give up and what makes their service to our country so very special.
